What barrel should I get to modify my Mossberg 500 persuader to a hunting gun?
I have a 12 gauge Mossberg 500 persuader. I have the pistol grip and the 20″ barrel that holds 8 rounds. I’ve just taken up dove hunting and rather than purchase a new gun I’d like to modify my gun by adding a stock and 28″ barrel.
Is this possible? What is recommended? Where do I purchase the barrel and stock?

NOPE —– Sorry but all the above posters are wrong……. You can not change the barrel from another Mossberg 500 standard capacity shotgun (6 shot) onto the 8 shot Persuader…..
The Magazine tube is too long…..

See how the magazine tube is considerably longer?….. The long mag tube on the 8 shot and the 590 9 shot shotguns are application specific for those shotguns only —- You absolutely cannot fit a 24, 26 or 28 inch barrel on these shotguns…..
You CAN fit the hunting barrels on the 6 shot Mossberg 500 Cruiser models…. Take a look…. see how the mag tube is short…. These you can put longer hunter barrels on….

The only way to make your current shotgun to work with a hunting barrel is to replace the magazine tube…. This along with the cost of a new barrel and stock would be too expensive…. Almost as expensive as purchasing a new Mossberg 500 12 guage field model with a 28 inch barrel…. Those sell for $239 in my area at this time of the year……
So in short – It would be less expensive to just buy a new Mossberg 500 12 guage…..
Besides – that 8 shot shotgun is a real handy unit to have around because – well just because!…. Keep it and buy a new one….
