Some Help With A Crossbow, Please?
Yesterday, I bought a Man Kung crossbow, unused, still packaged, online for about $50. I put it together and strung it just fine, and I’m happy with it so far. My question is would this be a good crossbow for deer hunting? It has a 120 pound pull weight, but I did some research and most recommend 150 pounds or more. How close will I need to be to take a buck down with a heart shot, or can I even do that with this bow?
Close range (under 30-35 yds.) you can do it. I’ve shot deer that close, and yes, you could quite easily get them in the heart/lungs with that kind of power. Admittedly 120lbs. is not enough to “shake the earth”, but it will fling a bolt at reasonable speeds. MAKE SURE YOU CAN MAKE THE SHOT THOUGH!!! Put a paper plate up at the distance (30-35 yds.), and see if you can hit it off-hand. If you can hit it, you can bag a deer. I’d suggest doing this on your own property though. Sometimes state laws can be a b**ch to work around (I’ve shot my share of deer with a .22… on my property).
